    Timothy Murphy is spending some quality time at home this week.

    OUR very own Hollywood star is certainly doing his bit to help out local tourism this week as he spent some quality time at home with his family.

    Timothy V Murphy is definitely no stranger to the glitz and glamour of Hollywood what with having worked on shows such as Sons Of Anarchy, 24, CSI: NY and the soon to be seen second series of True Detective.

    The Oakpark native still holds a place in his heart for the beauty of Kerry, as demonstrated by his recent activity on his twitter page.

    Tim has definitely been doing his bit for tourism here as he tweets about his experiences at home last weekend, back to his 31,ooo twitter followers in what can only be described as dream promotion for some businesses.

     

    Many people from abroad posted replies about how beautiful the county was looking in his photos.

    Ardfert and Dingle are the big winners as Tim declares his fondness for all things in those areas.

    Tim’s Visit Home Before Resuming His ‘True Detective’ Work

    TIMOTHY V Murphy walks through the arrival doors at Farranfore Airport and a few people present do a double take with that ‘I know that fella from somewhere’ expression on their faces.

    It’s a look the Oakpark native must be well acquainted with.

    Since he left Ireland for Hollywood many years ago, he has appeared in some of the biggest TV series of the past 15 years including 24, Six Feet Under, Shameless (US), Alias, CSI: NY and many more.

    But what Tim does next could take his career to another level.

    I sat down with him in the airport bar for a quick chat before he went off to spend some quality time with his parents, Eddie and Mary, back in Tralee. He’s home for the weekend before heading back to LA soon to film the remaining episodes of the blockbuster series True Detective.

    He is slim, fit and fresh looking for his 55 years, no doubt helped by a healthy lifestyle in Santa Monica where he lives.

    He has a genial and courteous way about him which must have helped him when he went to the US in the early 80s, working in construction in New York and later in Florida.

    “I was just in my twenties and having fun basically,” he said of those times.

    While there he managed to get an acting job in a commercial for Molson beer.

    “I looked a bit like James Dean at the time and I had three beautiful hispanic girls around me during filming. I thought ‘if this is acting, I’ll have some of this’,” he joked.

    Tim returned home and took up acting seriously, studying his craft and getting parts in plays. He landed a role in Glenroe on RTE, as Conor Sheehy, which made him a household name for a while in Ireland.

    But when the offer of a place to stay in LA came up, he left these shores again in 1997 and hasn’t looked back.

    A number of small roles in major TV series followed as well as movie parts in Appaloosa, National Treasure and Lone Ranger.

    However, it was a TV commercial that led him to a significant role as Ian Doyle in the hit show, Criminal Minds, for six episodes.

    “I was in a commercial for ‘Direct TV’ playing a Russian oligarch and it became very famous in the States – it went viral as they say – and that gave me a lot of notoriety. And it was out of that I got a straight offer for Criminal Minds.

    They didn’t realise I was Irish. They thought I was Russian, because they were looking for a Russian character, but when they found out I was Irish they changed it,” said Tim.

    This exposure helped him land a role on Sons Of Anarchy, the acclaimed FX show about a Californian biker gang, where he played Galen in five episodes. Now he’s been cast in a new TV show by that its creator, Kurt Sutter.

    The pilot for The Bastard Executioner, which is set in the early 14th century, is being shot in Wales at the moment and that’s where he’s come from for the weekend.

    If, as expected, it’s picked up for a full series, he could be home a bit more often, as he’ll be spending four months in Wales this summer. So is it a big role?

    “He’s an ex-warrior priest and he becomes more crucial as the story goes on. It’s good that the role is so small in the pilot episode, as it allows me to go back and do True Detective, because I’ve three more episodes to do in that.”

    Ah yes, True Detective. The previous series with Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson was a massive worldwide hit last year and hopefully it’ll do wonders for Tim’s career.

    He is set to appear in six of the eight episodes of the new series which stars Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughan. Don’t expect spoilers from Tim though.

    “I’ve never worked on such a secretive project. You get your scenes a couple of days before shooting and you have to hand the scripts back as soon as you shoot them,” he said.

    He’s also set to appear in Jane Fonda’s new series Grace And Frankie this summer, but the planned series for Holy Roller, where he was to play the lead role as a Kerry priest Fr Babbot in Las Vegas, will have to wait for the moment while he’s busy with other projects. He also stars in a movie to be released this year.

    “I did an independent movie called No Way To Live that I think is going to be quite a good movie. I’m a sheriff in Louisiana which I got huge satisfaction out of playing,” he said.

    He’s also about to face a new challenging role as a father, since his girlfriend, model/actress Caitlin Manley, is expecting their child.

    In the meantime, Tim is going to enjoy his break over the weekend. So what does he get up to when he gets home?

    “I like going for a hike up Brandon, going for a walk on Banna Beach with my folks, out for dinner or for a pint. I love getting back to Kerry,” said Tim, who you might spot in Sean Og’s or Bailys Corner for a drink when he’s at home.

    Then next week it’s back to the world of filming where Kerry people seem to making big waves in the past few years with megastar Michael Fassbender and lately, Moyvane’s Gerard Barrett enjoying huge success.

    “Fassbender is just great isn’t he and Gerard Barrett did the right thing with Pilgrim Hill,” said Tim. “When a young director starts off writing about something they know – like Scorcese did – you can build on that, but when you try from the very beginning to copy someone’s work, you’re not going to have a great career.”

    “It’s great. It’s a change because it’s usually guys from Dublin who do well, but it seems to be Kerry’s time at the moment,” he said.

    It certainly is and Timothy V Murphy may not pass through Farranfore Airport with only vague looks of recognition for much longer.

    Mais que fait Tim prochaine pourrait prendre sa carrière à un autre niveau.

    Je me suis assis avec lui dans le bar de l'aéroport pour une brève discussion avant qu'il partit pour passer un peu de temps de qualité avec ses parents, Eddie et Mary, le dos à Tralee. Il est à la maison pour le week-end avant de rentrer à Los Angeles bientôt pour filmer les épisodes restants de la série à succès Vrai détective.

    Il est mince, en forme et fraîche à la recherche de ses 55 années, sans doute aidé par un mode de vie sain à Santa Monica, où il vit.

    «Je suis juste dans ma vingtaine et avoir du plaisir, fondamentalement,» dit-il de ces moments.

    Cette exposition a aidé à décrocher un rôle dans  Sons Of Anarchy , le FX spectacle acclamé d'un gang de motards californien, où il a joué dans cinq épisodes Galen. Maintenant, il a été jeté dans une nouvelle émission de télévision que par son créateur, Kurt Sutter.

    Le pilote de  The Bastard Bourreau,  qui est fixé au début du 14ème siècle,  est tourné au Pays de Galles en ce moment et qui est où il est venu à partir pour le week-end.

    Si, comme prévu, il est ramassé pour une série complète, il pourrait être à la maison un peu plus souvent, comme il sera passé quatre mois au Pays de Galles cet été. Ainsi est-il un grand rôle?

    «Il est un prêtre ex-guerrier et il devient plus cruciale que l'histoire continue. Il est bon que le rôle est si petit dans l'épisode pilote, car elle me permet de revenir en arrière et faire Vrai détective , parce que je l'ai encore trois épisodes à faire à ce sujet. "

    Ah oui, Vrai détective . La série précédente avec Matthew McConaughey et Woody Harrelson a été une année dernière dans le monde entier énorme succès et nous espérons qu'il va faire des merveilles pour la carrière de Tim.

    Il est programmé pour apparaître dans six des huit épisodes de la nouvelle série qui met en vedette Colin Farrell et Vince Vaughan. Ne vous attendez pas spoilers de Tim cependant.

    «Je ne l'ai jamais travaillé sur un tel projet secret. Vous obtenez vos scènes une couple de jours avant la prise de vue et vous avez à portée de main les scripts de retour dès que vous leur tirer ", at-il dit.

    Il a également mis à apparaître dans la nouvelle série de Jane Fonda Grace And Frankie cet été, mais la série prévu pour Holy Roller, où il devait jouer le rôle principal en tant que prêtre Kerry Fr Babbot à Las Vegas, devra attendre pour le moment tout il est occupé avec d'autres projets.Il met également en vedette dans un film à être sorti cette année.

    "Je l'ai fait un film indépendant appelé No Way To Live que je pense va être un bon film tout à fait. Je suis un shérif en Louisiane que je suis énorme satisfaction de jeu ", at-il dit.

    Il est aussi sur le point de faire face à un nouveau rôle difficile comme un père, depuis sa petite amie, modèle / actrice Caitlin Manley, attend leur enfant.

    En attendant, Tim va profiter de sa pause le week-end. Donc, ce qu'il ne obtenir jusqu'à quand il rentre à la maison?

    "Je aime aller pour une randonnée jusqu'à Brandon, va pour une promenade sur la plage avec Banna mes parents, pour dîner ou pour une pinte. Je aime revenir à Kerry ", a déclaré Tim, qui vous apercevrez peut-être dans Sean Og ou de Bailys coin pour boire un verre quand il est à la maison.

    Puis, la semaine suivante, il est de retour dans le monde du tournage où les gens Kerry semblent faire de grosses vagues au cours des dernières années avec la mégastar Michael Fassbender et dernièrement, Gerard Barrett Moyvane profiter énorme succès.

    "Fassbender est tout simplement génial est-il pas et Gérard Barrett a fait la bonne chose avecPilgrim Colline » , a déclaré Tim. «Quand un jeune réalisateur commence à écrire sur quelque chose qu'ils connaissent - comme Scorcese a fait - vous pouvez construire sur cela, mais quand vous essayez dès le début de copier le travail de quelqu'un, vous ne vont pas avoir une grande carrière."

    "C'est bien. Il est un changement car il est généralement gars de Dublin qui réussissent bien, mais il semble être le temps de Kerry pour le moment », at-il dit.

    ‘The Bastard Executioner’ video: Timothy V. Murphy talks transition from ‘Sons of Anarchy’

    Executioner -For a series that is not even out yet, FX is doing something at the moment that is beyond cool with “The Bastard Executioner“: They are giving you short previews of all of the action behind the scenes as the pilot films in Wales, with many of these featuring everyone from the cast to the producers. We cannot remember the last series that provided you with so much access during the filming process. We saw the origination of this at times during “Sons of Anarchy,” where Kurt Sutter proved that he could keep fans invested in the product without giving away the plot through photos, web chats, and other mediums.

    With “The Bastard Executioner,” what these videos are about more then anything else is engagement. You have people jumping into a fan community from the get-go, and they never forget that your show is being made or that it is coming on. This is one of the reasons why “Sons of Anarchy” routinely broke its own ratings records one season after the next.

     

     

    This video below concentrates on one man in Timothy V. Murphy who is a “Sons of Anarchy” alum coming aboard the new show. He discusses moving from a very violent character in Galen O’Shay to a priest, a man who at least superficially inhabits a very different world. There could be both an internal and an external interpretation to this. Obviously, this character does physically live in a different world, given that we are in medieval times (the era, not where you eat turkey drumsticks and yell at waiters in a different accent) and the rules put upon you are far stricter and more religious-based.

    It may be some time before we learn all of the finer details in terms of premiere dates and times, but our dream would be for this to be the direct successor to Sutter’s previous masterpiece in the fall. We have more news, including more videos, at the link here.

    Tralee-born actor Timothy V Murphy who is in line for a starring US TV role

    Tralee actor Timothy V Murphy could be on track for his biggest TV role yet.

     

    The Oakpark born TV and film actor, who now lives and works in the US is one of the main movers behind a planned new TV series that's being touted as potentially being one of US TV's next big things.

    Murphy has been lined up to star in a new show called Holy Roller which will tell the tale of a morally and spiritually bankrupt Irish American Priest in Las Vegas.

    A trailer for the show has been aired to rave reviews and a campaign is now underway to get the show, which looks like a gritty and shocking cross between Breaking Bad and Father Ted, a full production and distribution deal.

    In the show, loosely based on a number of Clerical sex and financial scandals that rocked Nevada in recent years, Murphy has been picked to play the decadent and criminally minded priest Monsignor Frank Bobbat.

    The role has the potential to be the biggest break yet for the talented Tralee actor who has already played large but not starring roles in shows such as Sons of Anarchy, Criminal Minds and NCIS.

    Le Oakpark TV né et acteur de cinéma, qui vit et travaille aux Etats-Unis est l'un des principaux moteurs derrière une nouvelle série télévisée prévue qui est présenté comme étant potentiellement une des prochaines grandes choses de la télévision américaine.

    Murphy a été aligné pour jouer dans un nouveau spectacle intitulé Holy Roller qui racontera l'histoire d'une Amérique en faillite irlandaise Priest moralement et spirituellement à Las Vegas.

    Une remorque pour le spectacle a été diffusé à des critiques dithyrambiques et une campagne est en cours pour obtenir le spectacle, qui ressemble à un croisement graveleuse et choquant entre Breaking Bad et le père Ted, une production et une distribution complète affaire.
